Solar Pump, Tank And Trough Installation - Member Case Study

Location Overview:

The customer lives on a rural property north of Yass. The location that requires stock to be watered does not have a dam or access to alternative water sources. Additionally, there is no power supply to the location.

Pre-Project Consultation Notes:

It was decided that a three part system would be most suitable for this project. With the team’s guidance, the customer decided to install a solar powered bore pump, a tank to hold the water drawn up by the bore, and a trough to deliver the water to their sheep.

Project Products:

The main products required to make this project a success were the pump, tank and trough, specifically:

• Bushmans TXD5000 Tank
• Midwest Concrete LS850 concrete trough

The most complex part of this setup is the Lorentz Solar Pump System, which includes a range of elements such as:

• Lorentz PS2-600 HRE-04H Pump, motor, controller
• Android smartphone Bluetooth interface
• 1 x 440 Watt Panels
• Low water probe
• Pressure transducer
• Required pipes, cables, valves and fittings

The Process:

The Irrigear Yass team handled all aspects of the project from supply and preparation through to completion. This included equipping the bore and creating a base for the tank and trough to sit on.

Once the bore was prepared and the pump was added, the required accessories for optimal operation were fitted. This included an Android smartphone Bluetooth interface for programming, data exploration and troubleshooting if required, as well as timers, valves and sensors to assist the system in working at its best. As the Lorentz pump is powered purely by solar, the team also completed installation and connection of the solar panel, with all parts being either Lorentz certified or approved components to ensure that the system’s warranty was maintained.

Once the tank and trough were installed, float valves were fitted to ensure appropriate water levels were maintained without overflowing the containers.
