Commercial Irrigation At Ripley Cricket Oval - Total Water Services - Member Case Study

The Goal

Ripley Providence partnered with Total Water Services as they required fully automated water management for the new Ripley Cricket Oval. This project is part of a major development for the area and will provide training space for local teams and recreational facilities for the community. As such, having all works completed at the highest quality was of utmost importance.

Location Overview

Located within Ipswich City Council, the Goolpahjo Harry Thompson Senior Park in Ripley Providence is a brand new development designed to enhance the South Ripley community. In a press release from City of Ipswich, Division 1 Councillor Jacob Madsen noted “A facility like this means sport will become more accessible to residents in the area, further promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.”

Additionally, “Council has worked with AFL Queensland and Queensland Cricket to ensure compliance with the peak bodies of these sports which means players and staff will have access to national standard facilities.”

With standards set so high, being able to ensure that the grounds are correctly watered and maintained was paramount, hence the involvement of the Total Water Services crew.

Pre-Project Consultation Notes With such an extensive project, there will always be many moving parts to consider, and a range of challenges that must be overcome. In this particular instance, the main culprits were the need for extensive sandstone excavation throughout the playing surface and ongoing weather disruptions during construction.

The Process

Each project within the development had to cooperate with the others around it to ensure safety and efficiency, and the Total Water Services team are proud to have worked alongside other contractors to bring the new community space to life.

This cooperation and craftsmanship led to the delivery of a fully automated sports field irrigation solution designed for long-term performance, efficiency, and reliability.

The Outcome

Thanks to the hard work of the team and strong collaboration on-site, the project was successfully delivered and is now supporting efficient turf management for this busy council sporting facility.

The precinct is scheduled to open next month (August 2026) and the community are excited to make use of the new facilities.
