Mineral Pool Management - Member Case Study

The Goal

The customer’s goal for this project with Irrigear Lowood was to ensure adequate pumping, filtration and sanitation for their large scale mineral pool.

Location Overview

This project was completed at a private dwelling in the Lowood area. When looking at their pool equipment needs, the customer concluded they needed a professional to assist in specification, design and installation of an appropriate pool pump and filter and guidance in pool cleaning and maintenance equipment.

Pre-Project Consultation Notes Given that the pool is located at the customer’s home, special care had to be taken to ensure that the pool equipment installed did not cause disruption to their enjoyment of the property. Additional considerations included the fact that the pool is a mineral pool, therefore needing different care than a chlorinated pool. The 110,000L capacity, and built in 25m lap pool which had been incorporated would also need to be considered throughout the design and maintenance process.

Project Products

Following careful consultation with the homeowner and consideration of the pool’s size, usage and proximity to the house, Irrigear Lowood determined that a pool equipment set up featuring Davey products would be best for the customer’s needs.

Given the size of the pool and the fact that the customer has selected a mineral setup, multiple pumps and pool filters were required to complete an appropriate system. This included:

• Two Davey PM350 three phase pool pumps
• Three Davey 28" Crystal Clear Sand filters in parallel
• Sanitation by dual Davey Lifeguard Low Salt complete pool and chemistry control
• A pool monitoring setup

In addition, the Irrigear Lowood team also installed a 21kW Davey DHP210 Heat Pump so the customer could enjoy their pool for more of the year, and added in a Maytronics Wave 100 Dolphin to keep everything sparkling clean.

The Process

For this project, the Irrigear Lowood team sized, supplied and commissioned the full pool care system.

To ensure appropriate sanitation and filtration, the team worked with a plumber to install the two Davey PM350 three phase pool pumps in parallel feeding into the filters. All three Davey Crystal Clear Sand filters are also installed in parallel, with the Davey Lifeguard Low Salt complete pool and chemistry control and monitoring setup linked in to ensure balance in the customer’s pool treatments. The Dolphin essentially just does its own thing, which makes it a helpful addition to the pool maintenance plan.

The Outcome

The customer now has a clean and sanitary mineral pool configured in their backyard and are quite happy with the result. So happy, in fact, that most of the photos in this case study came from them, so thanks for that!
