Irrigation Renovation - Member Case Study

The Goal

The main focus of this project was an old irrigation system that required updating. The system works to keep the client’s compound green, therefore providing a more aesthetically pleasing experience for owners and guests.

This irrigation renovation covered a significant area and the client wanted to ensure that everything was put together properly, and with high quality products, so they bought in the Irrigear Goulburn team.

Location Overview

The client has a large rural compound near Cooma in New South Wales. Roads, sheds and other amenities must be considered when installing a new system.

Pre-Project Consultation Notes

The client’s pre-existing system consisted of around 200 old impact pop-up sprinkler heads. All heads needed to be replaced, and the client also wanted the irrigation controller, valves and wiring renovated.

Project Products Having assessed the situation to ensure that the client was receiving both the most efficient, and the most cost effective, solution possible, the Irrigear Goulburn team decided that the new irrigation system would be best designed using mostly Hunter products. These included: - Hunter I25 rotor pop-up sprinklers - selected to match the performance and spacings of the client’s old sprinklers - A Hunter ICC irrigation controller – chosen for precise control and wireless compatibility - A Hunter WVL Wireless Valve Link system – selected to ensure cost efficiency for the client, as a wireless installation worked out cheaper than re-wiring the system - Hunter PGV solenoid valves – chosen for ease of system compatibility These Hunter products were supported by additional componentry including Gator solenoid valves and gate valves from AAP.

The Process

Once the team had assessed the existing system and specified an appropriate replacement, they got to work digging out the old componentry and ensuring that the new irrigation system was installed in a way that would maximise positive impact.

Each sprinkler and solenoid was placed with precision, components were clearly marked for ease of future maintenance, and the system was tested prior to refilling the channels.

There were a few breaks taken to admire the view – because who wouldn’t when your worksite looks like that (yes, Irrigear Head Office is jealous) and some time spent ensuring that the owner knew how to get the most out of their system, and then the job was done.

The Outcome

The client is quite pleased with the results of their irrigation renovation. Their green spaces will now stay green thanks to a system that will serve them for years to come.
