Senninger® Pressure Regulators

Senninger® Pressure Regulators

Senninger® black and white pressure regulators are known worldwide for their accuracy and reliable performance. Available at your local Irrigear® Independent Experts.

Recognisng the importance of maintaining correct system pressure, Senninger® introduced the first in-line pressure regulators to the industry in 1966. Several models have been developed throughout the years to meet a variety of installation needs including mechanised systems, nurseries, greenhouses and open fields.

Why Pressure Regulators?
Pressure regulators are the unsung heroes of your irrigation system. These devices exist to maintain the system’s desired performance. They control excessive inlet pressure and assure you have a consistent outlet pressure running through your sprinklers.

Controlling system pressure is crucial because every irrigation system is designed to take a predetermined amount of water and apply it uniformly at a specific flow and pressure range. If the system pressure is not controlled, sprinkler performance is negatively affected and, in some cases, fitting and emitters could even take damage or blow out of the tubing.

Pressure regulation is often a misunderstood topic. If pressure fluctuations are controlled, sprinklers will be able to function as designed. This results in even plant growth and quality. Uncontrolled pressure fluctuations can distort sprinkler pattern uniformity and lead to over or under watering issues, as well as misting.

In addition, regulation is imperative to properly meter the application of fertilisers and herbicides through the irrigation system.

Senninger® Pressure Regulators - Product Information

Senninger® Black and White Pressure Regulators are renowned for their accuracy, and ability to maintain the overall efficiency of any irrigation system.

All Senninger® Presssure Regulators maintain a constant preset outlet pressure with varying inlet pressures, which alleviates pressure differences that can cause an applicator’s area of coverage to change and are available in a range of low, medium and high flow models. All our pressure regulators feature:
• 100% pressure tested, to ensure quality and performance;
• Very low hysteresis and friction loss;
• Can be installed above or below ground;
• Patented tamper-proof design;
• No external metal parts for excellent corrosion resistance;
• Two-year warranty on materials, workmanship and performance.

LOW FLOW REGULATOR —
– Senninger® PRLG (Pressure Regulator Landscape Grade) is ideal for installations requiring lower flows of 114 to 1590 L/Hr.
– Senninger® PRL (Pressure Regulator Low Flow) is ideal for installations requiring lower flows of 114 to 1817 L/hr. Suggested use in solid-set, drip, other low-volume irrigation systems, as well as centre pivot and mechanical move irrigation systems.

MEDIUM FLOW REGULATOR —
– Senninger® PSR™2 is designed to handle flows from 114 to 3407 L/hr. Its patented design makes it ideal for use with surface water.
– Senninger® PMR-MF (Pressure Master Regulator Medium Flow) is ideal for installations requiring mid-range flows of 454 to 4542 L/hr, including solid-set, drip and other low-volume irrigation systems.

HIGH FLOW REGULATOR —
– Senninger® PR-HF (Pressure Regulator High Flow) is ideal for installations requiring higher flows of 2271 to 7268 L/hr, including solid-set sprinkler and low volume manifolds.

LIMIT VALVE —
– Senninger® PRLV (Pressure Regulating Limit Valve) is designed to be used in place of standard pressure regulators to limit static (no flow) water pressure when a shut-off valve is used downstream from the regulation point. When this shut-off valve is closed, the t-stem flow-passage closes and seals on the rubber seat, thus limiting the PRLV outlet pressure to only 68 to 103 kPa above its normal regulating pressure. This helps protect downstream components from potential damage due to high static upstream water pressure.
• Designed to control pressure when there is no water flow;
• Installation before shut-off valve;
• The limit valve limits outlet pressure to only 68 to 103 kPa above its normal regulating pressure;
• 100% pressure tested, to ensure quality and performance;
• Very low hysteresis and friction loss.

Senninger® Pressure Regulators – Applications

The basic function of a pressure regulator is to maintain an irrigation system’s desired performance. They control excessive and varying inlet pressures to a constant outlet pressure. Maintain a more uniform application and preserve overal system efficiency with Senninger® Pressure Regulators.

Irrigation systems are designed to take a predetermined amount of water and apply it uniformly over an area and all sprinklers are designed to operate within a specific range of flows and pressures. However, every irrigation system will experience some sort of pressure fluctuation, which also causes unwanted flow deviations. Pressures fluctuate for several reasons including elevation changes within the irrigated area and pressure loss through pipes and fittings. If pressure fluctuations are controlled, sprinklers will be able to function as designed. This results in even plant growth and quality. Uncontrolled pressure fluctuations can distort sprinkler pattern uniformity and lead to over or under watering issues, as well as misting.

In addition, regulation is imperative to properly meter the application of fertilizers and herbicides through the irrigation system.

A water pressure regulator is a device that works like an automatic valve to limit higher pressure to a desired constant lower pressure.

An in-line pressure regulator contains a hollow cylindrical housing with a centrally-mounted stationary seat near the inlet. Inside is a movable tubular stem (throttling stem or t-stem) surrounded by a spring with a diaphragm attached near the downstream end. The diaphragm and O-rings isolate the spring to keep it dry.

Water flows through the inlet, around the seat and through the t-stem. Water pressure acting on the diaphragm forces the spring to compress, pushing the t-stem toward the seat. The closing of the area between the seat and the t-stem reduces the water pressure on the diaphragm. The balance between the force on the diaphragm and spring resistance establishes the outlet pressure.

Senninger® uses springs with different compressive loads to deliver various preset water pressures from 6 to 60 psi (0.41 to 4.14 bar).

Senninger® has a commitment to world-class products, local support and technical expertise ensure we provide the most efficient and reliable agricultural irrigation solutions available in the world today.
